2024 Kingsmen

The creation of the King’s Men came about in 1959.  This organization was composed of approximately 50 of the county’s prominent businessmen chosen to select the Queen of the Dogwood Festival.  This group still operates today.  Until this time the selection of the Queen was based on ticket sales.  Several candidates were chosen an announced by the association and the lucky young girl crowned was the one who sold the most tickets to the Coronation and pageant.  With the King’s Men as judges, the contestants from 1959 to the present date have been selected on the basis of poise, beauty, and personality.  Any unmarried girl who is a member of the senior class of a Tyler County High School is eligible and may compete in the three phases of judging held the month before the festival.
