The Festival of the Arts will kick off the Tyler County Dogwood Festival on March 19th-20st with an opportunity to step back in time. Enjoy a tour of Heritage Village, demonstrations of crafts and skills from days gone by like blacksmithing and spinning and weaving, and hear some wonderful old time bluegrass, gospel and country music. The gate opens at 9:00 a.m. and the festivities will go on until 5:00 p.m. Director Oferia Gazzaway has also scheduled some fabulous exhibits to include an art exhibit in cooperation with the Tyler County Art League, a quilt show and an artillery exhibit. And of course the renowned Pickett House will be serving an old time lunch of fried chicken, dumplings, a variety of fresh vegetables and all of the trimmings family style.
Sunday, March 20th, the Village will close out the Festival of the Arts with a Dinner on the Grounds from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under twelve. There will be live entertainment and lots of great food and fun.
